In terms of companies, Europe and Asia dominate the JOC.com/SJ Consulting Group list of the Top 50 Global Transportation Providers. Europe had the most companies in 2014, 19, and the highest number of third-party logistics companies, 11. Asia had 16 companies, led by nine container shipping lines.
North American transportation and logistics firms, in contrast, tended to be more focused on surface transport and delivery, with six railroads and three trucking companies in the rankings. North America is also home to the largest global logistics company, UPS, and third-ranked FedEx.
On the whole, European companies in the rankings contributed the largest amount of revenue, $280.1 billion, or 41 percent of the total $759.2 billion, with North American firms second at $228.5 billion, 30 percent of the total and Asia Pacific companies third at $190.5 billion, 25 percent of the global total.
