The biggest vessel ever in Israel history entered Haifa port – Maersk Elba

On Thursday, 2nd February 2017, a mega-container vessel of Maersk Corporation named Maersk Elba became the largest vessel that has ever called in Israel. This was reported by Haifa port authorities after the ship was moored at Carmel Container Terminal.

Carmel Terminal was opened in 2010 and became the largest and most modern container terminal in Israel, having received the ability to handle up to 1 million TEU per year. At the present day the terminal has six Super Post Panamax cranes which can carry out cargo operations with the largest container vessels in the world, such as 13,100 TEU Maersk Elba. Haifa port authorities even plan to receive 18,000+ TEU container vessels of Triple-E class in the nearest future.
